The Exhibit
The challenge was to showcase a topic of my choosing within an assigned three-dimensional space. I chose to design a calming and serene space that reflects Bob Ross's gentle and encouraging approach to art, which will provide a unique and inspiring experience for visitors.
The exhibit space showcasing the life and legacy of Bob Ross is designed to be welcoming, calming, and serene, in keeping with the artist's gentle and encouraging demeanor. The exhibit features a range of displays, including original paintings, personal artifacts, video and audio recordings of Bob Ross teaching and painting, and an interactive projection room that allows visitors to feel as if they are stepping into the painting itself.
Navigation
The exhibit offers a large space, allowing visitors to walk through at their own pace and with freedom. Though there are clearly differentiated sections, the space encourages visitors to really take their time browsing through all of Bob Ross's masterpieces.
Special gifts
In addition to the exhibit poster, the museum offers special invitations for select guests, as well as custom notebooks to inspire artists and encourage them to write ideas or sketch their own nature scenes.
Browse the Booklet
All pertinent information regarding the Bob Ross showcase, "the happy little exhibit," is compiled into this presentation booklet. Every detail from the floor layouts to color schemes is included to envision the painter's legacy. Scale figures are included in all elevation drawings to provide context for the design size. More details regarding each area of the museum are explained in the booklet.
The Process
Following the idea to curate a museum after Bob Ross, I sketched a few ideas for a poster to advertise the exhibit. After choosing the poster, it served as the base design for all other design aspects.
The process then consisted of sketching possible different areas to highlight in the museum, researching the life and paintings of Bob Ross, and even watching the Netflix documentary about him.
